When we first got here, the Riverbend festival was going on downtown. Chattanooga is right on the Tennessee River and this is their big festival each year. This year Katie's favorite singer, Rodney Atkins, was singing last Friday night. That's him in the picture.
However, he wasn't scheduled to start until 10:30 pm! For those of you who have spent time with us, you know Katie goes to bed by 8:00 most nights, so this was going to be a big deal to stay up that late! We went and had a great time, and watched Little Big Town play first (they were great). It was almost 11:00 by the time the stage was changed and Rodney came out to sing. In the meantime, Katie was SO tired and was trying so hard to stay up just to see him. We listened to the first 2 songs and then had to concede...2 more songs and then we had to go. We thought there's no way he'll sing Watching You (Katie calls it the Buckaroo song, the one about his little boy) this early. But guess what? It was the final song before we left, so she got to stay to see it after all.
She loved it so much she wanted to go back the next night. Too bad Mommy and Daddy were too exhausted!
